Singular Lagrangians, Constrained Hamiltonian Systems and Gauge Invariance: An Example of the Dirac–Bergmann Algorithm

چکیده
The Dirac-Bergmann algorithm is a recipe for converting theory with singular Lagrangian into constrained Hamiltonian system. Constrained systems include gauge theories -- general relativity, electromagnetism, Yang Mills, string theory, etc. elegant but at the same time rather complicated. It consists of large number logical steps linked together by subtle chain reasoning. Examples found in literature are designed to isolate and illustrate just one or two those steps. In this paper I analyze finite-dimensional system that exhibits all major algorithm. includes primary secondary constraints, first second class restrictions on Lagrange multipliers, both physical degrees freedom. This relatively simple provides platform discussing Dirac conjecture, constructing brackets, applying conditions.

متن کاملGauge invariance in a Z2 hamiltonian lattice gauge theory
We propose an efficient variational method for Z2 lattice gauge theory based on the matrix product ansatz. The method is applied to ladder and square lattices. The Gauss law needs to be imposed on quantum states to guarantee gauge invariance when one studies gauge theory in hamiltonian formalism. On the ladder lattice, we identify gauge invariant low-lying states by evaluating expectation value...
متن کاملSingular Lagrangians in Supermechanics
The time evolution operator K is introduced in the graded context and its main properties are discussed. In particular, the operator K is used to analize the projectability of constraint functions arising in the Lagrangian formalism for singular Lagrangians.
